6-day program with 3 hiking days

Day 1: Arrival at El Calafate. Transfer with the shuttle bus from local airport to bus terminal. That afternoon regular bus service to El Chaltén. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel or hostel. Our mountain guide will then familiarize you with the program for the following days.

Day 2: Hiking to Laguna Torre. Winding up through the beech forest the trail leads into the valley of Cerro Torre. After an hour walk the mountain appears with all its magnificence. Two and a half hours ahead, you will be enjoying lunch by the side of Laguna Torre looking out on an outstanding display of mountains and glaciers. Torre Egger, Standhart, Bífida and the most exiting of all: the “Cerro Torre” an extreme challenge for all climbers. In the afternoon return to El Chaltén.
Hiking time: about 6 hours.
Difficulty: easy, 300 m vertical drop.

Day 3: Hiking to Laguna de  los Tres.  While enjoying a panoramic view of Mount Fitz Roy, you walk up towards the Base camp for the expeditions. Within three hours you will reach Rio Blanco campsite. From thereon the trail gets steeper, but the effort will certainly be well paid off with a breathtaking view of Fitz Roy. A little further, close to Laguna de los Tres, the  turquoise water of Laguna Sucia reflects the surrounding hanging glaciers and granite peaks. Return to El Chaltén.
Hiking time: 7 to 8 hours.
Difficulty: easy – only the last ascent to Laguna de los Tres is rated as medium. Vertical drop: 800 m.

Día 4:  Hiking to Loma del Pliegue Tumbado. Walking through the Patagonian steppe and forest you reach the top of Pliegue Tumbado at 1550 meters over sea level. The panoramic view awaiting you there is just overwhelming: lake Viedma in the steppe, Cerro Huemul, the peaks of the Patagonian icecap and of course Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre and their surrounding glaciers.
Return to El Chaltén and from there travel by bus to El Calafate. Upon arrival, in the late evening, a private transfer will take you to your hotel.
Hiking time: 6 to 7 hours.
Difficulty: easy, only the last part to the top of Pliegue Tumbado is steeper (medium rated).
Vertical drop: 1150 meters.

Day 5: Full day excursion to the Perito Moreno Glacier.  When visiting Patagonia, a trip to Perito Moreno Glacier is a must. Starting around 8:30 AM from the hotel, you will get to know the glacier from every angle and will have plenty of time to enjoy this incredible unique landscape of amazing shapes and colors.
Overnight at El Calafate.

. 2 nights with breakfast at El Calafate
. 3 nights with breakfast at El Chaltén

. National Park entrance fee to Moreno-Glacier.

Personal equipment:
Hiking boots, warm clothes (for wind and rain): jacket and over-pants, a small hiking backpack for personal belongings during day walks, warm gloves and a hat, good sun-screen, sun-glasses, hat and light hiking clothes.

Physical requirements:
This program is appropriate for experienced as well as for less-skilled hikers; nevertheless you should be able to walk about 5 to 7 hours daily. In order to match your personal interest or adapt to weather conditions our guide will be happy to extend or shorten the hikes accordingly.
