Camping in the midst of the mountains

3-day hiking program

Day 1: Arrival at El Chaltén around noon. With our mountain guide you will walk to our first camp in the midst of the mountains. While the trail slowly leads upwards approaching Mount Fitz Roy, deep down in the valley the Rio de las Vueltas flows on its way to Lago Viedma.After a two hours easy walk you arrive at Laguna Capri.
In the forest, close to the lake and with a fantastic view on the Fitz Roy range our team will set up the tents.
Dinner and overnight in tents at the camp.                

Day 2:From Laguna Capri the path continues for about an hour towards Rio Blanco: the base camp for Fitz Roy ascents. From here on, the trail starts winding up, gaining altitude and a spectacular view of the valley. After an hour ascent Mount Fitz Roy appears with a breathtaking close up view of its vertical granite walls. Lunch close to Laguna de los Tres overlooking this spectacular scenery.
Return to our camp at Laguna Capri along the same path.

Day 3:Hike to Cerro Torre. Roaming through marshy landscape and huge granite boulders, the trail will lead you down into the Cerro Torre valley. After a two and a half hour walk you reach the base camp for all Cerro Torre ascents. A little further, at Laguna Torre you have lunch facing the giant granite towers of Cerro Torre, Egger, Standhart and a countless number of ice capped summits surrounded by hanging glaciers.
In the afternoon you will take the direct way down to El Chaltén, arriving on time to board the bus to
El Calafate. Horses will have arrived with your luggage.

Included services:

• Full board, starting upon arrival at El Chaltén on day 1 until box lunch on the third day.
• 2 nights lodging in comfortable tents for two people each, including insulating mats.
• Camping equipment including cooking and dining tent, table service, etc.
• Up to 8 kilos of personal luggage per person and group equipment will be transported by porters.
• Mountain guide during the three days.

Requirements:
This program, through the highlights of the area, has been designed for experienced hikers as well as for anyone who wishes to experience for the first time an outdoor adventure and is capable of walking four to six hours daily.

Personal equipment:
Hiking boots, warm sleeping bag, sneakers, warm clothes (windproof  and rainproof), jacket and over pants, spare clothes for rainy days, a small hiking daypack, a plastic drinking bottle or thermal bottle, warm gloves and hat, good sun-screen, sun glasses, sun-hat, light clothing for hiking, flashlight.
